About

Hey there, welcome to my website! My name is Richard, and I'm an ambitious Embedded Systems Engineering student.

Currently I'm graduating at Inspiro for my bachelor Embedded Systems Engineering at the HAN in Arnhem. During my bachelor I also started-out with Embedded Systems pre-master at TU/e. I expect to continue with the master starting in September 2025.

History

Reading autobiographies of tech pioneers like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates has given me perspective on how skills and success develop over time. Here’s a brief outline of my journey:

1. Early Years

Technology fascinated me from childhood, particularly computers and programming. As a teenager, I constantly explored and created: Building websites, programming games, designing UIs, creating digital art, and disassembling electronics.

I even ran a YouTube channel for three years, uploading weekly content and growing to 750 subscribers. Though I eventually moved on, this experience taught me time management, handling criticism, and content production while documenting my early tech obsession.

2. High-school

My formal introduction to computer science began here, studying digital information, databases, computer architecture, and Java programming.

I developed a strong interest in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, participating during projects like 3D-printing quadcopter propellers and designing physics-based musical instruments. During my final years, I prepared for my first entrepreneurial venture in e-commerce, months of planning until I turned 18 and could legally start a business.

3. Between High-school & Bachelor’s

After graduation, I balanced working at a metal-sheet fabrication company during the day while running my e-commerce business in the evenings.

I managed everything from inventory and supplier negotiations to customs and bookkeeping. As my HAN education became more demanding and I moved to Arnhem, I outsourced logistics to create passive income.

Though initially successful, I eventually lost interest as competitors caught up with my best-selling products. I closed the business before profits diminished, realizing e-commerce wasn’t for me since technology is my true passion.
